Welcome to Stewart Warner South Wind, Corp.

A Meggitt Group Company

A WORLD LEADER IN HEAT TRANSFER PRODUCTS

For over 60 years, Stewart Warner South Wind Corporation has been designing and manufacturing heat exchangers and mobile combustion heating units for critical and demanding aerospace, transportation, defense and process industry applications. The company’s roots date back to the 1930’s when the South Wind gasoline fired heater was standard automotive equipment in America.

The South Wind Division of the former Stewart-Warner Corporation was established in the 1940’s to pursue the design and manufacture of combustion heaters and heat exchangers for military vehicles and aerospace applications. Starting in the 1960’s, the company became one of the world’s leading suppliers of large aluminum heat exchangers for the chemical processing and air reduction industries.

Applications
Stewart Warner South Wind heat transfer products include:

  • oil coolers - engine & gearbox & transmission
  • bleed air coolers - aircraft & jet engine
  • heat exchangers - air & gas separation plants
  • heat exchangers - LNG nitrogen rejection
  • heat exchangers – vapor cycle systems
  • heat exchangers – electronics cooling
  • truck engine water jacket heaters - 40,000 BTU/hour
  • crew compartment vehicle heaters - 30 to 60,000 BTU/hour

Design & Manufacture
Stewart Warner was a pioneer in developing the use of vacuum brazing for heat exchangers and that tradition of innovation and invention continues. In Indianapolis, Indiana, experienced design engineers utilize proprietary analysis software to optimize the heat transfer solution sought by the customer. A fully equipped model shop and development laboratory allows for rapid prototyping to quickly respond to demanding customer schedules. Production of heat exchangers and heaters is accomplished in Troy, Indiana, in a 130,000 sq. ft. modern manufacturing facility utilizing advanced production methodologies. An award winning quality system is continually audited and approved by the FAA, DoD and major U.S. and foreign manufacturers.
